Incident reported near Whitmore Court and Loyd Lane

Police in Anne Arundel County arrested a Baltimore man after an incident reported Thursday night in Glen Burnie in which investigators allege a woman was sexually assaulted and an attempted abduction occurred.

Officers responded to the area of Whitmore Court and Loyd Lane after a report of an assault. Investigators say the woman was inside her vehicle near a dumpster disposing of trash when a man approached and began sexually assaulting her. Police allege the suspect then tried to pull the woman from her car in an attempt to force her into his vehicle.

The woman screamed for help, escaped, and drove away, police said. Investigators allege the suspect followed her in his vehicle, and officers later received a description of the car through a 911 call and radio broadcasts.

Arrest following vehicle pursuit and foot search

Police said officers located the suspect moments later and attempted a traffic stop. Investigators allege the driver did not immediately stop and traveled a short distance before the vehicle came to a stop after becoming stuck in a snow embankment. Police said the suspect then fled on foot and was later found hiding behind a dumpster.

The suspect was identified as Allen Michael McFadden, 34, of Baltimore. Police said he was taken into custody and is being held without bond. A bail review hearing was scheduled for Monday afternoon in Glen Burnie.

Charges filed

Police said McFadden was charged with multiple offenses related to the alleged attack. The listed charges included:

  • First-degree attempted rape
  • Second-degree attempted rape
  • Sex offense involving a weapon
  • Assault
  • Attempted kidnapping

Public safety context and how investigations proceed

Cases involving alleged sexual violence typically move through several stages, including initial patrol response, follow-up interviews, the collection of physical and digital evidence where available, and review by prosecutors for charging decisions and court scheduling. The charges filed at arrest represent allegations and must be proven in court.

If you or someone you know has experienced sexual violence, help is available 24/7 through the National Sexual Assault Hotline (RAINN) at 800-656-4673.

Police said the investigation remained ongoing and asked anyone with information to contact Anne Arundel County police.
