City Bulletin: Traffic Modifications for CIAA Championship and Roadway Maintenance

Official City Notice: February 28, 2026

The City of Baltimore has issued the following public service announcements and traffic advisories for Saturday, February 28, 2026. Residents and visitors are encouraged to review these notices to ensure safety and efficient travel throughout the metropolitan area.

CIAA Basketball Tournament Traffic and Lane Closures

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced significant traffic modifications in the vicinity of the CFG Bank Arena to accommodate the final day of the CIAA Basketball Tournament. Motorists should expect heavy traffic and changing patterns in the downtown corridor through the evening hours.

  • Championship Game Closures: From 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today, the following lane closures will be in effect:
    • Howard Street: Left lane closure from Camden Street to Pratt Street.
    • Lombard Street: Right lane closure from Hopkins Place to Howard Street.
    • Baltimore Street: Left lane closure from Howard Street to Park Avenue.
    • Pratt Street: Left lane closure from Eutaw Street to Howard Street.
  • Transit Recommendations: Attendees are strongly encouraged to utilize the Charm City Circulator Orange Route, which provides direct service to the arena. Rideshare pick-ups and drop-offs are strictly designated for the south side of Baltimore Street at 2 Hopkins Plaza.

Roadway Cleaning: Hilton Parkway

The Department of Transportation is conducting specialized roadway cleaning today. Between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., motorists will encounter right lane closures on both the northbound and southbound sides of Hilton Parkway, extending from North Avenue to Hilton Street. Please exercise caution when passing work crews.

Department of Public Works: Service Resumption

The Department of Public Works (DPW) reminds residents that mechanical street sweeping operations have fully resumed following the recent stabilization of winter weather. Regular posted schedules are now being enforced.

  • Vehicle Clearances: Residents must follow all posted signage regarding parking restrictions during sweeping hours. Vehicles remaining in violation are subject to ticketing and towing to ensure curb-to-curb cleaning.
  • Alley Accessibility: DPW crews are continuing alley clean-up efforts. Residents with rear-collection services are asked to move trash and recycling bins as close to their property lines as possible to allow heavy machinery to navigate narrow passage ways safely.

Public Health and Safety

While the city remains in a period of recovery from mid-month winter conditions, the Baltimore City Health Department advises residents to remain vigilant for remaining ice on secondary sidewalks and in shaded alleyways. If you encounter hazardous conditions on public property, please report them immediately by calling 311.
