High-Impact Traffic Alerts: Stadium District

Commuters and visitors to downtown Baltimore should prepare for significant delays today, Saturday, March 7, 2026, due to a high-profile Major League Soccer match between D.C. United and Inter Miami CF at M&T Bank Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., but road closures and traffic modifications will begin as early as 11:30 a.m. to accommodate the heavy influx of fans.

  • Russell Street Service Drive: Closed northbound between West and Hamburg Streets.
  • Hamburg and Ostend Street Bridges: These will be closed for game ingress starting mid-morning. They are expected to reopen briefly during the first half and close again at the start of the second half for egress.
  • Warner Street: Currently closed between Worcester and W. Ostend Streets due to construction; however, a special one-way traffic pattern will be implemented for gameday traffic.
  • Hanover Street: No southbound travel will be permitted between Henrietta and Hamburg Streets starting late in the match to assist with exiting traffic.

Highway and Beltway Construction

Major regional arteries continue to see impacts from long-term infrastructure projects. Drivers are encouraged to plan for extra travel time on the following routes:

  • I-695 (Baltimore Beltway): As part of the ongoing Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) project, motorists should expect lane and shoulder closures between I-70 and MD 43 (White Marsh Boulevard). The speed limit may be reduced to 45 mph in active work zones.
  • Falls Road: Daytime lane closures are in effect for water line replacement between the Baltimore City line and Brightfield Road near I-695.
  • US 50/301 (Bay Bridge): Scheduled maintenance work continues, which may lead to shifting traffic patterns and intermittent delays throughout the weekend.

Public Transport and Special Events

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is encouraging the use of public transportation to avoid downtown gridlock. Extra capacity is expected on the Light RailLink and Metro SubwayLink for stadium access.

  • MARC Penn Line: Elevators at the New Carrollton station are currently out of service; passengers requiring accessible routes should plan accordingly.
  • CityLink Pink: A temporary detour remains in place for the route between Cedonia and the West Baltimore MARC station.
  • Evening Congestion: Expect additional heavy traffic near CFG Bank Arena for the Cody Johnson concert at 7:30 p.m. and near Meyerhoff Symphony Hall for evening performances.
