The shooting was reported shortly before 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of Belle Avenue and Milford Avenue in Baltimore City. Investigators said a trooper assigned to the Golden Ring Barrack attempted to stop a silver or gray passenger vehicle believed to be an Infiniti.
What investigators say happened at Belle and Milford
Police said the trooper approached the driver’s side of the vehicle to speak with the driver. The door opened slightly, and gunfire came from inside the vehicle toward the trooper. Investigators said the trooper did not return fire.
Authorities said the driver fled the scene, traveling east on Belle Avenue. The incident prompted a multi-agency response, with Maryland State Police personnel joined by officers from the Baltimore Police Department and the Baltimore County Police Department. Emergency medical services transported the trooper by ground to the hospital, where the trooper remained under medical care Tuesday.

Investigators described the suspect vehicle as a silver or gray Infiniti with partial license plates. Police said they believe the car has darkly tinted windows, front-end damage, and broken headlights.
