DPW Health and Service Advisory: Water Main Protection
The Baltimore Department of Public Works (DPW) remains under a high-alert status following nearly 16 consecutive days of sub-freezing temperatures. To prevent additional water main breaks and property damage, the city has issued the following public service advisories:
- Pipe Protection: Residents are strongly urged to keep a small, pencil-thin stream of water running in their households to prevent service lines from freezing.
- Reporting Breaks: If you notice water surfacing in the street or a sudden loss of water pressure, please report it immediately by calling 311 or using the 311 mobile application.
- Alley Operations: 24-hour alley plowing operations continue in an effort to restore full trash and recycling collection services. DPW is utilizing private contractors to clear the remaining 300+ alleys blocked by the January winter storm.
